Perifit vs Je Joue Ami: Which Kegel Trainer to Buy in Canada (2026)

Perifit Canada guide: a woman taking a calm breath on a yoga mat in a bright living room on a winter morning

Perifit and Je Joue Ami are two very different ways to train your pelvic floor. The Perifit Care is an app-connected trainer that reads your squeezes with pressure sensors and turns them into phone games. The Je Joue Ami is a set of three silicone kegel weights with no electronics at all. If you are shopping for a Perifit in Canada, this guide helps you decide whether you need the app or just the weights.

Quick answer: Choose the Perifit Care ($158.95 CAD) if you want real-time biofeedback and guided games that tell you whether you are squeezing correctly. Choose the Je Joue Ami ($71.14 CAD in fuchsia) if you want simple progressive kegel weights with no app, battery or phone. Both are body-safe silicone and use water-based lube only.

Perifit vs kegel weights: which should you buy?

Product Price (CAD) Best for Key spec
Perifit Care $158.95 Biofeedback and games App with pressure sensors
Je Joue Ami $71.14 No-tech progression 3 weights, 47 to 106 g

In this guide

1. Pelvic Floor Trainer with App-Controlled Biofeedback - Pink – Perifit ($158.95 CAD)

The Perifit Care is a slim probe in medical-grade silicone, 3.2 inches (8.3 cm) insertable and 1.2 inches (3.1 cm) wide. It has no motor. Instead, pressure sensors read each contraction and send it to the free Perifit app, where your squeezes steer simple video games.

That feedback is the point. Most people who try kegel exercises cannot tell whether they are doing them right, and the games show you on screen. They train relaxing the muscles as well as squeezing them. Perifit says the device holds European medical CE certification and is FDA-cleared in the US.

The trade-offs: you need a phone with Bluetooth and location services, and sessions are designed to be done lying down. It is also more than twice the price of a weight set.

Best for: people who want to know their pelvic floor is actually working, and who need a coach to keep the habit going.

2. Ami 3-Step Silicone Kegel Ball Set in Fuchsia – Je Joue ($71.14 CAD)

The Ami is a box of three kegel balls that step up in weight: Ami 1 is a single ball at 47 g, then Ami 2 at 78 g and Ami 3 at 106 g. Each one is narrower than the last, so the work gets harder in two ways at once. Every piece has a retrieval loop.

There is no motor, battery or app, so there is nothing to charge or update. The balls are body-safe silicone over a polycarbonate core. Je Joue allows a 30 to 60 second boil to sterilise them, which the Perifit cannot take.

The catch is that you get no feedback. You track your own progress, and reviewers report the retrieval loop can feel irritating where it sits outside the body. We also stock the same set in black at $78.95 CAD.

Best for: anyone who wants simple, durable kegel weights without a phone in the room.

Is Perifit worth it in Canada?

It is worth it if you have tried kegels before and given up. The games make a dull routine easier to stick with, and the live readout shows whether you are squeezing the right muscles. Our Perifit Canada price is $158.95 CAD.

It is not worth it if you already know how to find and squeeze your pelvic floor, or if you would rather not involve a phone. In that case, a set of kegel weights does the strength work for less than half the price.

Perifit is a French company, and its Perifit Canada site says the device is CE-certified in Europe and FDA-cleared in the US. Neither product is a replacement for care from a doctor or a pelvic floor physiotherapist.

Which should you buy?

You are not sure you are doing kegels right: the Perifit Care. Its pressure sensors show each squeeze on screen.

You are on a tighter budget: the Je Joue Ami, at $71.14 CAD in fuchsia.

You keep starting and stopping: the Perifit Care. Daily games give you a reason to come back.

You want no screens or charging: the Je Joue Ami. It is just silicone weights.

You want to sterilise by boiling: the Je Joue Ami. The Perifit has sealed electronics and must never be boiled.

Do kegel trainers actually work?

Pelvic floor exercises have good evidence behind them. A Cochrane review of the research concluded that "pelvic floor muscle training helps reduce urinary incontinence in women." You can read the Cochrane review summary.

The Mayo Clinic explains that "Kegel exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles," which "support the uterus, bladder, small intestine and rectum." Its Kegel exercise guide describes both tools in this guide. In clinic biofeedback, "your healthcare professional places a pressure sensor into your vagina or rectum." With weighted cones, "you place the weighted cone into your vagina."

A trainer does not replace the exercise. It helps you do it correctly and keep doing it. The same Mayo Clinic guide notes that "Kegels are less helpful for people who leak lots of urine when they sneeze, cough or laugh," so bladder leakage that is heavy or new deserves a medical check.

How do you choose a kegel trainer?

Start with what you need help with: technique or resistance. You can compare every option in our kegel trainers and weights collection.

Feedback: if you cannot feel whether you are contracting the right muscles, choose biofeedback. Pressure sensors show you.

Resistance: if you already know the movement and want it to feel harder, progressive weights add load in steps.

Habit: be honest about whether you will keep going. Games help some people; others prefer a quiet routine.

Material: choose non-porous, body-safe silicone, and use water-based lube only.

How do you start pelvic floor training safely?

Talk to a professional first if anything is unusual. The Mayo Clinic advises, "Before you start doing Kegels, ask your healthcare professional if these exercises are right for you." That matters most if you are pregnant, postpartum or have pelvic pain.

Start light and short. With the Ami, begin with Ami 1 and move up only when it feels easy. With the Perifit, our product notes suggest about 10 minutes for a first session, lying down and relaxed.

Do not train while you pee. Mayo Clinic warns, "Doing Kegels while emptying your bladder can keep your bladder from emptying fully." Stop if anything hurts.

Are kegel trainers body-safe?

Both of these are. The Perifit Care is medical-grade silicone, and the Ami is body-safe silicone over a polycarbonate core. Our product records list both as phthalate-free and non-porous.

Planned Parenthood says that for toys inserted into the body, "it's best to use one made of a body-safe, non-porous material." Its sex toy guide also warns, "Don't use silicone lube with silicone sex toys (unless you put condoms on them)." So use water-based lube with both.

Wash either one before first use and after every session, with warm water and mild soap. Never boil or dishwash the Perifit. Keep each trainer for one person only.

How we chose these picks

We compared the kegel trainers we had in stock on the day this guide was published. Every spec comes from our product records or the brand's own site, and prices were checked against our store that day.

We left out the green Perifit Care and the Aneros Vivi because our store showed no units for either when we checked. We ranked the picks by who they suit, not by price.

FAQ

What is the difference between Perifit and kegel balls?

The Perifit Care reads your contractions with pressure sensors and shows them in an app as games. Kegel balls like the Je Joue Ami add weight for your muscles to hold, with no feedback. The Perifit teaches technique; the weights add resistance.

How much does Perifit cost in Canada?

The Perifit Care costs $158.95 CAD at our store. The Je Joue Ami kegel ball set costs $71.14 CAD in fuchsia and $78.95 CAD in black.

Do I need a phone to use Perifit?

Yes. The Perifit Care works with the free Perifit app on iOS 13 or later or Android 8 or later, with Bluetooth and location services turned on. The Je Joue Ami needs no phone.

Does Perifit need charging?

No. According to our product records, it has a sealed battery and no charging port, so there is nothing to plug in.

Which Ami ball should I start with?

Start with Ami 1, the lightest at 47 g. Move to Ami 2 and then Ami 3 only once the current weight feels easy to hold for a full session.

Can you use a kegel trainer after giving birth?

Ask your doctor, midwife or pelvic floor physiotherapist first. The Mayo Clinic advises checking with a healthcare professional before starting Kegels, and that matters most in the weeks after birth.

What lube should I use with a kegel trainer?

Use a water-based lube. Both trainers are silicone, and Planned Parenthood advises against silicone lube on silicone toys.

Do you ship to Canada and the US?
