Magic Wand Vibrator Guide: Original vs Plus vs Micro vs Waterproof vs Mini (2026)

Magic Wand vibrator guide: a white wand massager on burgundy silk beside a candle on marble

The Magic Wand vibrator is the plug-in massager that made "wand" a category. Today the brand sells five versions that look alike but behave very differently: a corded two-speed Original, a four-speed Plus, a pocket-sized Micro, a bath-safe Waterproof and a travel-sized Mini. This guide explains what each one does, which body and budget it suits, and how to use and care for it. Every price is the live Canadian price in our store on November 5, 2026, and every spec comes from the model's own product page.

The short version: A Magic Wand vibrator is a large-head massager built for deep, rumbly external stimulation rather than a pinpoint buzz. For most people the Magic Wand Plus ($119.89 CAD) is the one to buy: four speeds, a silicone head and a cord that never runs flat. Pick the Waterproof ($199.89 CAD) for the bath, or the Micro ($98.89 CAD) for travel.

In this guide

What is a Magic Wand vibrator?

A Magic Wand vibrator is a long-handled massager with a round, flexible-necked head about the size of a tennis ball cut in half. The motor sits in the head, so the vibration is low-pitched and spreads over a wide area instead of concentrating on one point. That is what people mean by "rumbly" rather than "buzzy".

It is still sold as a body massager, and it works as one. It became a sex toy because the broad, deep vibration reaches more of the clitoris than a small bullet does. Only the glans of the clitoris sits outside the body. Cleveland Clinic describes the whole organ as "about 3.5 to 4.25 inches long," shaped like an upside-down wishbone, with legs that extend inside the body (Cleveland Clinic). A big head that vibrates deeply can stimulate those internal parts through the skin.

The name confuses people. Hitachi listed the device in the United States in 1968, and in 2013 it stopped putting its name on it. Vibratex, the distributor, persuaded Hitachi to keep making it without any reference to Hitachi, and the renamed device returned to market in June 2013 (Wikipedia). Same toy, new label, which is why searches for "hitachi wand massager" and "magic wand sex toy" land on the same product. The Original, Plus, Micro and Waterproof we stock all say "(Hitachi)" in the title for that reason.

Which Magic Wand vibrator should you buy? All five compared

We stock five models. Four are tracked in stock today and one, the Mini, is listed as available. The out-of-stock Rechargeable is left out of this table until it returns.

Magic Wand vibrator models compared: full-size, mini and micro wand massagers side by side on burgundy silk

Each Magic Wand model in detail

1. Magic Wand Plus (Hitachi) 4-Speed Corded Wand Vibrator ($119.89 CAD)

The Plus is our pick for most people because it fixes the two things people disliked about the Original without changing the feel. It has four speeds instead of two, so the lowest setting (about 2,700 RPM) is gentle enough for sensitive days, and the head is soft silicone rather than vinyl. It is corded, running on any 100 to 240 V outlet, which means it never needs charging and never fades mid-session. The roughly 6 ft cord detaches for storage. It is about 13 in (33 cm) long with a 2.4 in (6.1 cm) head and carries a one-year warranty. The trade-off is the cord itself: you are tied to an outlet, and it is not made for use in or around water.

2. Magic Wand Original (Hitachi) Corded Wand Vibrator ($99.89 CAD)

The Original is the model everyone pictures: the white body and the vinyl head. It has two speeds, 5,000 and 6,000 RPM, so there is no gentle setting. Many people put a towel or underwear between the head and skin to soften it. Like the Plus it plugs into the wall, so there is no battery to wear out, and it measures about 12.25 in (31 cm) with a 2.25 in (5.7 cm) head. Buy it if you want the classic feel at the lowest price, or as a shoulder massager that doubles as a sex toy. Skip it if you are easily overstimulated or want a silicone head. It is for external use and must stay dry.

3. Magic Wand Waterproof (Hitachi) Rechargeable Wand Vibrator ($199.89 CAD)

The Waterproof is the only model in the family rated IPX7, meaning it can be fully submerged, so it is the one for the bath or shower. It is also the strongest: up to 7,000 RPM across four intensity levels and four patterns. The brand calls it the most powerful Magic Wand it has made. It is rechargeable, full-size at about 13 in (33 cm) with a 2.25 in (5.7 cm) silicone head, and made in Japan. Keep the blue cover plug at the base in place when it goes near water. The trade-off is price: it costs twice the Original. At $199.89 it does qualify for free insured shipping, which applies to orders of $150 or more.

4. Magic Wand Micro (Hitachi) Wand Vibrator ($98.89 CAD)

The Micro is the pocket version: about 4.5 in (11.4 cm) long, around 3 oz, with a 1.3 in (3.3 cm) silicone head. Despite the size it keeps the deep vibration the brand is known for, with three speeds (about 4,500, 5,500 and 6,500 RPM) and four patterns. It charges by USB-C and runs up to 3 hours, though the wall adapter is not included. Choose it for travel, for smaller hands, or for anyone who finds a full-size head too much to hold. Skip it if you want the broad coverage of the big head. It carries a one-year warranty and should be kept away from water.

5. Magic Wand Mini Rechargeable Wand Vibrator ($116.89 CAD)

The Mini sits between the Micro and the full-size models. It is about 9.6 in (24.4 cm) long and weighs about 275 g, less than half the weight of the full-size Rechargeable, with a 1.9 in (4.8 cm) silicone head on a flexible neck. It has three speeds (about 3,500, 5,000 and 6,000 RPM), runs up to 2.5 hours per charge from the included 6 ft wall cord, and is not meant to be used while charging. Pick it if you want cordless freedom and a lighter handle without going all the way down to pocket size. It is not waterproof, so clean it with a damp cloth.

What about the Rechargeable? The full-size Magic Wand Rechargeable (HV-270) is out of stock as we write this. It has four speeds and four patterns, runs up to 3 hours and also works while plugged in. We will add it back to this guide when it returns.

How do you choose the right Magic Wand vibrator?

Decide on power source first, then head size, then whether you need it near water. The motor feel is similar across the family, so those three choices matter more than anything else.

  • Corded or rechargeable. The Original and Plus plug in, so they never run flat and cost less. The Micro, Mini and Waterproof are rechargeable, which is better for travel and for anyone without an outlet by the bed.
  • Lowest speed. If you are sensitive, look at the bottom number, not the top. The Plus starts at about 2,700 RPM; the Original starts at 5,000.
  • Head size. A 2.25 to 2.4 in head covers the whole vulva, which many people find easier to enjoy than aiming. The 1.3 in Micro head is more precise and lighter to hold.
  • Water. Only the Waterproof can go in the bath. Every other model must stay dry.
  • Head material. The Plus, Micro, Mini and Waterproof have silicone heads. The Original's head is vinyl. Our body-safe materials guide explains the difference.
  • Noise. Wand massagers are generally louder than small vibrators. The brand publishes no decibel figures for any model, so we cannot rank them for noise.
  • Patterns. Only the Micro, Waterproof and the out-of-stock Rechargeable offer vibration patterns. The Original, Plus and Mini give steady speeds only.

How do you use a Magic Wand massager for the first time?

Start on the lowest speed, through fabric, and let the head rest rather than press. A wand massager does its work by spreading vibration, so pushing harder usually makes it feel worse, not better.

  1. Plug in or charge. On the corded models check the switch is off before you plug in.
  2. Start through underwear or a towel. This is the single most useful tip for the Original's 5,000 RPM bottom speed.
  3. Rest the head beside the clitoris, not on it. Move it slowly. The vibration spreads, so you do not need direct contact to feel it.
  4. Use a little water-based lube. It reduces friction on the head. Avoid silicone lube on the silicone-head models; our guide to silicone vs water-based lube explains why.
  5. Change angle before you change speed. Tilt the head, use the edge of it, or move it in small circles. Go up one speed only when the current one feels steady.
  6. Use the flexible neck. It bends so you can choose how much pressure reaches you. Less is usually more.
  7. With a partner, hand over the handle. The long body is easy for someone else to hold during sex.

Wands are for external use. The head is far too large to insert, and none of these models is designed for internal play.

Is a Magic Wand massager safe to use often?

Yes, for most people. The common complaint is temporary numbness after a strong session, and the evidence says it passes. The International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) notes that "Sometimes, women notice some decreased genital sensitivity after using a vibrator, but the effects are generally temporary," and that in a 2009 study "Only one half of one percent said their numbness lasted longer than a day" (ISSM). The ISSM adds that "Usually, taking a break from using the vibrator is all that is needed, and sensation returns to normal."

  • Numb afterwards: stop, give it a day, and use a lower speed or fabric next time.
  • Skin feels hot or tender: you were pressing too hard. Let the head float.
  • Pain, bleeding or numbness that lasts: see a doctor or sexual health clinic.
  • Corded models: keep them away from water, and never use a damaged cord.
  • Pregnancy or a pelvic condition: ask your health care provider before using strong vibration on the lower belly or pelvis.

How do you clean a Magic Wand massager?

Unplug it, then wipe the head and handle with warm soapy water or a toy cleaner, and let it dry fully before you store it. Only the Waterproof can be washed under the tap.

  • Corded Original and Plus: unplug first. Wipe the head with a damp cloth and mild soap. Never put either in water.
  • Micro and Mini: wipe with warm soapy water or a toy cleaner and keep water away from the charging port.
  • Waterproof: wash the head and handle under warm water with soap, then dry it before charging.
  • Vinyl head (Original): warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner, then let it dry fully before storing.
  • Storage: store silicone heads apart from other silicone toys and out of direct sun. Our storage guide has the details, and our guide to cleaning sex toys safely covers each material.

Hitachi, Vibratex or Magic Wand: which name is right?

They are the same product line. Hitachi was the original manufacturer's brand. Vibratex is the company that distributes it under the Magic Wand name. If a listing says "hitachi magic wand", "hitachi wand massager" or "magic wand massager", it is describing this family. Two cautions when you shop:

  • Model numbers tell the truth. HV-260 is the Original, HV-265 the Plus, HV-60 the Micro, HV-135 the Mini, HV-270 the Rechargeable and HV-360 the Waterproof. A listing with no model number may be a copy.
  • "Magic wand" alone means other things. Search results for the bare phrase include costume props and software tools. Add "vibrator" or "massager" to find the toy.

How we chose and ranked these models

We ranked the five models we can actually sell today by how many people each one suits, not by price. The Plus leads because its low starting speed and silicone head fit the widest range of bodies. The Original follows for value, the Waterproof for power and bath use, then the two compact models for travel. Every spec above comes from the model's own product page in our store, and every price is the live store price on the date stated. Where the brand publishes no figure, such as noise level, we say so instead of guessing.

FAQ

Is the Magic Wand vibrator the same as the Hitachi Magic Wand?

Yes. Hitachi made and branded the original massager, then removed its name in 2013. The distributor, Vibratex, sells the same product line as Magic Wand. The Original, Plus, Micro and Waterproof are all part of that family.

Which Magic Wand vibrator is best for beginners?

The Magic Wand Plus ($119.89 CAD). Its lowest speed is about 2,700 RPM, far gentler than the Original's 5,000 RPM starting point, and its silicone head is softer. Start it through underwear and work up.

Is the Magic Wand Original waterproof?

No. The Original, Plus, Micro and Mini must all stay dry. Only the Magic Wand Waterproof (HV-360) is rated IPX7 and can be submerged in a bath or used in the shower.

Can you use a Magic Wand vibrator internally?

No. The head is far too large and the models are designed for external use only. Use it on the vulva, perineum, nipples, or as a body massager, and pair it with an insertable toy if you want internal stimulation.

How loud is a Magic Wand massager?

Louder than most small vibrators, as wand massagers generally are. The brand publishes no decibel figure for any model. If noise matters, test it under a blanket before you rely on it.

Do you need lube with a Magic Wand vibrator?

Not always, but a little water-based lube on the head reduces friction and makes longer sessions more comfortable. Avoid silicone-based lube on the silicone-head models.

Can using a Magic Wand massager cause numbness?

It can cause temporary numbness after a strong session. The International Society for Sexual Medicine says the effect is generally temporary and that taking a break is usually all that is needed. Numbness that lasts is a reason to see a doctor.

What if my order arrives faulty?

All sales are final, but if an item arrives damaged, faulty, incomplete or not what you ordered, message us within 14 days of delivery by email or WhatsApp and you choose a replacement or a full refund.
