Body-safe by design — not by claim.

The Magic Wand Mini has a soft silicone head and flexible neck on an ABS plastic handle, and contains no phthalates. Use only water-based lubricant — silicone lubricant can damage the silicone head over time. The Mini is not waterproof, so clean it by wiping rather than rinsing or submerging.

How to use, clean, and store

The first-5-minutes card in your box has the short version. This is the extended guide.

  1. Charge the Mini fully before its first use. Leave it on the charger for up to four hours — not longer.
  2. If you're using lubricant, apply a small amount of water-based lubricant to the silicone head. Never use silicone-based lubricant: it can degrade the silicone head and damage the finish.
  3. Press the power button to switch the Mini on. It starts on the lowest speed.
  4. Use the + and − buttons to move through the three speeds, approximately 3,500, 5,000 and 6,000 RPM.
  5. Rest the head against the area you want, using light pressure. The flexible neck lets the head follow your body's contours, so you don't need to press hard.
  6. Use it externally only. Keep it away from water and never use it in the bath or shower.
  7. Press and hold the power button for about three seconds to switch it off. Around 20 to 25 minutes of continuous use per session is the manufacturer's guidance.
  1. Switch the Mini off and unplug it from the charger before cleaning.
  2. Do not submerge it, hold it under a running tap, or put it in the dishwasher. The Magic Wand Mini is not waterproof, and water getting inside will damage it permanently.
  3. Wipe the silicone head and neck with a damp cloth using mild unscented soap, or use an antibacterial wipe or a spray toy cleaner on a soft cloth.
  4. Wipe the ABS handle and the buttons with a barely damp cloth. Keep moisture away from the charging port.
  5. Dry everything thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth before putting it away.
  6. Clean it before and after every use, and always between partners or between different types of play.
  1. Make sure the Mini is completely dry and switched off before storing it.
  2. Keep it in a cool, clean, dry place out of direct sunlight — a bedside drawer or a storage pouch works well.
  3. Store it separately from other silicone toys, or keep it in its own bag, so the silicone head isn't in constant contact with other materials.
  4. Store the charging cord loosely coiled rather than wrapped tightly around the handle.
  5. If you won't be using it for a while, top up the charge every few months to keep the battery healthy.

The Magic Wand Mini Rechargeable Silicone Wand Massager – Red Pleasures story

Sold as an electric massager in 1968. Still is, legally.

Hitachi first sold the Magic Wand as an electric massager in April 1968, and the United States trademark registered the following year still describes the goods in exactly those words. What happened next was not Hitachi's plan: people used it for something else, and by the 1970s Betty Dodson had put it at the centre of the group workshops that made her name. Hitachi spent decades uncomfortable with the association and eventually asked for its name off the box. That is why the product in front of you is called simply Magic Wand.

Same motor quality at half the weight — 9.7 ounces against the Rechargeable's 1.3 pounds.

Vibratex has handled the distribution since around the turn of the 2000s. The company was founded in 1983 by Harold and Suzi Spielberg and is run today by their daughter, and it is Vibratex rather than Hitachi that imports, distributes and manages the brand now — Hitachi no longer manufactures it either. This is worth saying plainly, because a great many listings still say Hitachi Magic Wand, and you should know what you are actually comparing before you compare prices.

The Mini arrived in March 2022 and is the smallest of the line by a wide margin: 9.6 inches long against 13 for the Rechargeable, 9.7 ounces against 1.3 pounds, and a 1.9 inch head rather than 2.4. Three speeds, roughly 3,500, 5,000 and 6,000 RPM, and no pattern modes at all, where the Rechargeable has four. Up to 2.5 hours of runtime on a charge. Joan Price, reviewing it in June 2022, summed the trade-off up in a line we have not managed to improve on: you get the same quality and most of the power at half the weight.

Material claims stop where Vibratex's do. Vibratex describes the Mini as having a soft silicone head and a flexible neck, and publishes nothing beyond that — no phthalate-free statement, no body-safe wording, no non-porous claim for this specific model. Retailers add those badges routinely. They are not the manufacturer's words, so they are not on this page either, and the warranty Vibratex publishes is one year.

Pleasure With Purpose

Every purchase helps women impacted by sexual exploitation.

Pleasure With Purpose is our promise that pleasure should never come at anyone's expense. Launched in 2026 — our very first year in business — it directs 5% of every purchase to Canadian charities that support women impacted by sexual exploitation. We chose to start on day one, rather than "once we could afford it," because a brand built on consensual pleasure owes something to the women the wider industry has harmed. Every year we'll publish the numbers, the recipients, and the receipts.
