Body-Safe Verified

Body-safe by design — not by claim.

The Tango X combines soft-touch ABS plastic — covering the tip and most of the body — with body-safe silicone around the bottom third, near the buttons and charging contacts. Materials are free from phthalates, BPA, and latex. Rated IPX7 and fully submersible. Use water-based lubricant only. This is not a medical device. Stop if you feel discomfort, and clean it before sharing it between people.

Common questions

Real questions, answered by the team that tested it.

Body-Safe
Is the Tango X made of silicone?
Only partly, and it is worth knowing before you buy. We-Vibe lists the materials as ABS and body-safe silicone, free from phthalates and BPA and made without latex. In practice the tip and most of the body are soft-touch ABS plastic, and the silicone is confined to roughly the bottom third, around the buttons and the magnetic charging contacts. Reviewer Elia Winters describes it exactly that way. Plenty of retailers call this a silicone vibrator; that is not accurate and we will not repeat it. It is still a body-safe, easy-to-clean construction — just not an all-silicone one. Use water-based lubricant, because silicone lubricant will degrade the silicone section.
Battery
The original Tango had charging problems. Did the Tango X fix them?
Partly, and we want to be precise, because the original had two separate failures that often get blended together. The first was that the magnetic charger would not stay attached, so you would plug it in overnight and find it had not charged. That one is fixed, and three independent reviewers confirm it — Joan Price puts it as the magnets now not disengaging until you pull them apart. The second was the toy quietly dying after about a year. Nobody has confirmed that one is fixed. Kelvin Sparks said outright that he had not owned the Tango X long enough to know, and no reviewer has answered him since. So: the connector is demonstrably better, and long-term life is genuinely unproven. The two-year We-Vibe warranty is the real reassurance.
Usage
Can I take the Tango X in the bath or shower?
Yes. We-Vibe rates it IPX7, which means fully submersible, and every distributor datasheet agrees. You can rinse it under a running tap and use it in the bath or the shower. Two habits worth keeping: dry the magnetic charging contacts completely before you put it on the charger, since trapped moisture on contacts is the thing worth avoiding on any magnetically charged toy, and skip antibacterial or strongly scented soaps, which can degrade the silicone section over time. Warm water with a mild soap, or a dedicated toy cleaner, is all it needs. Do not boil it and do not put it in a dishwasher — it holds a sealed lithium-ion battery.
Usage
How many settings does the Tango X actually have?
Seven patterns and eight intensity levels, and the important part is that they combine. The patterns are Pulse, Wave, Cha-Cha, Tease, Tempo, Heartbeat and Vibrate, and any of them can run at any of the eight intensities. That is the upgrade over the original Tango, which made you choose one or the other. The three buttons map onto it directly: plus and minus set intensity, and the separate tilde button cycles patterns. Kelvin Sparks notes that the separate buttons also stop you knocking yourself out of a steady setting by accident, which the original's single button did constantly. You will see retailer listings claiming eight modes or ten modes. Those are wrong; We-Vibe's own figure is seven.
General
Does the Tango X connect to the We-Vibe app?
No. The Tango X has no app control and no remote — it is operated entirely by the three buttons on the toy. It is not listed among the app-compatible products on the We-Vibe app's own App Store listing, and there is no FCC radio filing for it, which is what you would expect for a device with no Bluetooth in it. If app or long-distance control is what you are after, look at the We-Vibe wearables instead. If you would rather not have a phone involved at all, the Tango X being a purely physical toy is a feature rather than a gap.
General
Is the Tango X more powerful than the original Tango?
Probably not, and we would rather say so. Kelvin Sparks has used both and wrote that it is still rumbly as hell, while adding that he personally cannot feel a difference in power. Elia Winters describes a strong, rumbly motor with nothing buzzy about it. What actually changed is the body around the motor: a silicone grip that holds with lubed fingers, three buttons instead of one, patterns and intensities that combine, and a charger that stays attached. Buy the Tango X for those changes, not for extra power. One practical warning: it is longer than the classic Tango, so it will not fit accessories with a bullet slot sized for the original.
Usage
How does the travel lock work?
Hold the plus and minus buttons together for a few seconds and the toy locks out, so it cannot switch itself on in a bag. Repeat to release it. We-Vibe describes the lock as automatically deactivating when the toy is put on charge. On timing we are going to be honest rather than precise: We-Vibe publishes a three-second instruction for other models in the range but nothing specific to the Tango X, and the one reviewer who timed it on this model reports two seconds. Hold the buttons until it responds and you will be fine either way. Worth engaging every time it travels.
Body-Safe
What lubricant can I use with the Tango X?
Water-based only. Silicone lubricant degrades silicone over time, and while the silicone on this toy is limited to the grip section, that is exactly the part you hold, so it is not a section you want breaking down. Water-based lube is also the safest default for the ABS body and will not affect the IPX7 seal. Rinse it off afterwards with warm water and a mild soap. Avoid oil-based products as a general rule with rechargeable toys, and avoid antibacterial soaps, which can be harsh on the silicone.

How to use, clean, and store

The first-5-minutes card in your box has the short version. This is the extended guide.

  1. 1. Charge it fully before first use. The magnetic charger clips to the base — We-Vibe allows 90 minutes for a full charge.
  2. 2. Release the travel lock: hold + and − together for a few seconds until it responds. We-Vibe publishes no Tango X-specific hold time; one reviewer reports two seconds.
  3. 3. Apply water-based lubricant if you want glide. Silicone lubricant will degrade the silicone grip.
  4. 4. Hold it by the silicone base rather than the ABS tip — the grip is there so it stays put with lubed fingers.
  5. 5. Use + and − to set intensity across eight levels.
  6. 6. Press ~ to move through the seven patterns. Patterns and intensity are independent, so any pattern runs at any level.
  7. 7. Try the pointed tip for pinpoint contact, the flat end for broad contact, and the sides for gliding.
  8. 8. It is IPX7, so the bath or shower is fine.
  1. 1. Switch it off and unclip the magnetic charger before cleaning.
  2. 2. It is rated IPX7 and fully submersible, so warm water with a mild soap or a dedicated toy cleaner is fine.
  3. 3. Pay attention to the seam where the ABS body meets the silicone base, where lubricant collects.
  4. 4. Avoid antibacterial and strongly scented soaps — they can degrade the silicone section over time.
  5. 5. Dry the magnetic charging contacts completely before charging.
  6. 6. Do not boil it and do not put it in a dishwasher.
  1. Store it clean and dry in the silky pouch We-Vibe includes in the box. Engage the travel lock before it goes in a bag — hold + and − together — so it cannot switch itself on. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat, and do not let the silicone base rest against other silicone toys, since different silicone grades can bond over time. If it is sitting unused for months, top the charge up occasionally rather than leaving it flat.
Pleasure With Purpose

Every purchase helps women impacted by sexual exploitation.

Pleasure With Purpose is our promise that pleasure should never come at anyone's expense. Launched in 2026 — our very first year in business — it directs 5% of every purchase to Canadian charities that support women impacted by sexual exploitation. We chose to start on day one, rather than "once we could afford it," because a brand built on consensual pleasure owes something to the women the wider industry has harmed. Every year we'll publish the numbers, the recipients, and the receipts.
