Body-safe by design — not by claim.
The Joie is built on a rigid ABS core finished with a body-safe silicone coating rather than being moulded from solid silicone, so treat it as a coated surface: no boiling, no abrasive cleaners, and no silicone-based lubricant, all of which can degrade the finish. The materials are latex-free and phthalate-free, and the Joie is CE approved, RoHS compliant and California Prop 65 compliant.
How to use, clean, and store
The first-5-minutes card in your box has the short version. This is the extended guide.
- Charge the Joie fully before first use — attach the magnetic charger to the two pins at the base and plug the USB end into a computer or USB adapter. The first charge takes about two and a half hours.
- Wash the Joie with warm water and unscented soap or a dedicated toy cleaner before you use it for the first time.
- Apply a water-based lubricant if you'd like. Water-based only — silicone lubricants will damage the silicone coating, and oil-based products leave a residue on it.
- Press and hold the button at the base for one to two seconds to switch on. A soft white light confirms it's running.
- Tap the same button to cycle through the three steady speeds and then the twelve pulsation patterns.
- Hold the tip against the clitoris, nipples or other external areas, and move it around to find the angle you like. Start on the lowest speed and build from there.
- Keep single sessions under 30 minutes and give the motor a rest between them.
- Press and hold the button for about three seconds to switch off.
- Switch the Joie off and remove the magnetic charger before cleaning.
- Wash it before and after every single use.
- Use a dedicated toy cleaner, or warm water with a mild unscented antibacterial soap, working the surface for about 20 seconds.
- The Joie is fully submersible, so you can rinse it under running water or wash it in the sink — just don't leave it soaking for long periods.
- Never boil it, run it through the dishwasher, or use alcohol, bleach or abrasive cleaners. The silicone is a coating over an ABS body and those methods will lift or cloud the finish.
- Pat it dry with a lint-free cloth and let it air-dry completely, paying particular attention to the charging pins at the base — they must be bone dry before the charger goes back on.
- Make sure the Joie is completely dry before you put it away.
- Store it in the pouch it came with, or another soft fabric bag, so the coated surface doesn't rub against other toys.
- Keep it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
- Store it away from other magnetic chargers and cables, which can interfere with the charging pins.
- Top the battery up at least once a month even if you haven't used it — the lithium-ion cell stays healthiest when it isn't left flat for long stretches.
