Massage candles

A massage candle is two products in one: light it like a regular candle, and the low-temperature wax melts into a warm massage oil you pour straight onto skin. The trick is the wax — soy and shea butter blends melt just above body temperature, so the oil arrives warm, never hot. Our stocked picks are Intamo's soy candles with shea butter, in eucalyptus-peppermint and coffee-sandalwood, each in a ceramic jar that doubles as a pouring dish. It's an easy, unhurried way to slow an evening down. Every order ships Canada-wide in plain, discreet packaging.

How to choose

The things that actually matter when you're choosing — plain language, no spec-sheet jargon.

How a massage candle works. Burn the candle for 15 to 20 minutes until a full melt pool forms, blow it out, test a drop on your wrist, then pour into your palm and begin. The oil stays warm for a surprisingly long time, and the jar can be relit again and again.

Why the wax matters. Body-safe massage candles use soy wax blended with skin ingredients — shea butter, coconut and plant oils — that melt at a low temperature. Regular paraffin candles burn far hotter and aren't skin products; never substitute one.

Choosing a scent. Scent does most of the mood-setting: eucalyptus-peppermint reads brisk and spa-like, coffee-sandalwood warm and cozy. Some massage candles are made to be kissable or edible — that's a label fact, so check before tasting anything.

Using it well. Burn on a level surface, trim the wick between uses, and lay a towel down first — the melted wax is a body oil and can mark fabric. Afterwards it doubles as a skin moisturizer, so there's nothing to rush to wash off.

Questions, answered

The questions we get most often — answered straight, with real numbers where they help.

Usage

How does a massage candle work?

The wax is actually a blend of skin-friendly ingredients — typically soy wax with shea butter or plant oils — that melts at a much lower temperature than regular candle wax. Burn it for 15 to 20 minutes, blow it out, and the melted pool pours as a warm massage oil.

Body-Safe

Are massage candles safe for skin?

Candles made for massage are formulated as skin products with a low melting point, so the oil arrives warm rather than hot. Always extinguish the flame first, test a drop on your wrist before pouring, and patch test if your skin is sensitive.

Usage

Can I use a regular candle for massage?

No. Regular paraffin candles melt at a much higher temperature and can burn skin, and their wax and fragrance aren't made for body contact. Only use candles specifically made for massage.

Usage

How long should the candle burn before I pour?

About 15 to 20 minutes — enough for a full melt pool to form across the surface. Blow the candle out, wait a few seconds, test the temperature on your wrist, then pour into your palm rather than directly onto your partner.

Usage

Will massage candle oil stain sheets?

It's a body oil, so it can mark fabric. Lay down a towel before you start, and treat any spots with a little dish soap before the regular wash — that lifts most marks out.

Yes. Every order ships Canada-wide in a plain, unbranded box — no logo, no brand name, and no description of the contents anywhere on the outside. Your bank or credit card statement shows the charge as SP RP Chhokra Inc., so "Red Pleasures" never appears there either.
