Who this is for

If you have been circling this collection and are not ready to spend on foam furniture, start here. The Mini is for people who want the mess handled — lube, squirting, oil, period sex — without a permanent object in the bedroom. At 36 x 26 inches it covers a hip-width zone, not a bed.

Common questions

Real questions, answered by the team that tested it.

General
How big is the Mini, exactly?
36 × 26 inches (91 × 66 cm). For context, Liberator makes it in four sizes: Mini 36 × 26, Small 53 × 36, Queen 72 × 54, King 80 × 76. The Mini is the smallest — roughly a quarter of the Queen's surface area.
General
Will the Mini cover our bed?
No — and don't buy it expecting that. At 36 × 26 inches it covers a hip-width zone where the mess actually happens. If you want to cover a mattress, Liberator's Queen (72 × 54) or King (80 × 76) is the size you want, and we don't currently stock either.
Usage
Is it actually waterproof, or just water-resistant?
Liberator's spec sheet lists both as Yes, and describes the build as an absorbent velvet top with a hidden moisture barrier underneath. In practice the fluid soaks into the plush face and stops at the liner below it. What the barrier protects is whatever sits directly under the throw.
Usage
Can I machine wash and tumble dry it?
Yes to both. Liberator lists it as machine washable and dryer-safe, and their care instructions specify machine wash cold, tumble dry low.
Usage
Should I wash it before the first use?
Yes. Liberator's own care note says to wash it once or twice before first use to increase absorbency. A brand-new velvet face has not reached full absorbency yet, so give it a cycle first.
Body-Safe
What is it made of?
The face is microvelvet — 100% polyester. Underneath is a sewn-in moisture barrier liner. Liberator does not publish the liner's material, and publishes no phthalate-free or body-safe certification for the Throw line, so we don't claim either.
Warranty
Is there a warranty?
Liberator gives all their brand products a 1-year manufacturer warranty covering sewing defects. That is stitching and seams — it is not a wear-out guarantee on the barrier.
General
Why buy this instead of a towel?
A towel absorbs and then hands the fluid straight to your mattress; the point of the Fascinator is the barrier under the plush face. It is also the only thing in this collection that folds into a drawer rather than living in your bedroom.

How to use, clean, and store

The first-5-minutes card in your box has the short version. This is the extended guide.

  1. 1. Wash it once or twice before the first session — absorbency improves.
  2. 2. Lay it velvet side up, centred where hips will be.
  3. 3. Smooth it flat so the whole 36 x 26 in surface is in play.
  4. 4. Keep lube bottles and toys on the throw, not on the sheets.
  5. 5. Fold it inward when you are done so the wet face stays inside.
  6. 6. Wash cold, tumble dry low.
Important: Liberator specifies machine wash cold and tumble dry low — stay inside that. And the barrier only protects what sits directly under the throw: the Mini is 36 x 26 inches, so anything that runs past the edge reaches your mattress.
  1. 1. Before the first session, run it through the wash once or twice — Liberator says this increases absorbency.
  2. 2. Machine wash cold after each use. This blanket was made to get dirty.
  3. 3. Tumble dry low. It is dryer-safe, but nothing hotter than low.
  4. 4. Make sure it is completely dry before you fold it away.
  5. 5. Do not wash or dry it hotter than Liberator specifies.
  1. 1. Dry it fully before folding it away.
  2. 2. Fold it velvet-side in.
  3. 3. Store it flat in a drawer or on a closet shelf.
  1. Run it through the wash once or twice first — absorbency improves
  2. Velvet side up, centred under the hips
  3. Plan for 36 x 26 in: it covers a zone, not the bed
  4. Put the lube bottle and the toys on the throw, not the sheets
  5. Fold it face-in afterwards and wash cold

The Waterproof Sex Throw in Aubergine Microvelvet, Mini – Liberator story

Why we made it this way.

Most of what Liberator makes is foam. This is the exception, and it is the one that quietly makes everything else in this collection last longer.

An absorbent microvelvet face over a hidden moisture barrier — 36 x 26 in, machine wash cold.

The Fascinator Throw is a blanket with a secret layer. The face is microvelvet — 100% polyester, plush, and deliberately absorbent. Underneath it, sewn in and invisible, is a moisture barrier. That order matters and it is the opposite of what most people assume: fluid does not bead up and roll off. It soaks into the velvet and stops at the liner, which is what keeps your mattress dry. Liberator's own care note gives the game away — wash it once or twice before you use it, because a brand-new face has not reached full absorbency yet. It is designed to get wet.

Ours is the Mini, at 36 by 26 inches, and we want to be straight with you about what that is. Liberator makes four sizes: this one, a 53-inch Travel, a 72-inch Queen, and an 80-inch King. The Mini is roughly a quarter of the Queen's area. It is a hip-zone pad. It will not cover your bed, and if that is what you came for, you want a bigger size than we stock.

What it will do is handle the mess in the place the mess happens, for CAD 92 — the least expensive and least committal thing in this collection, and the only one that folds into a drawer instead of living in your bedroom. If you have been reading about wedges and bolsters and are not ready to buy a piece of furniture, this is the sensible place to start. It also does something none of the foam shapes can do for themselves: it keeps lube and fluids off their covers, which is the difference between washing a blanket and washing a wedge.

Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. That is the entire maintenance story, and it is why this beats a towel — a towel absorbs and then hands everything straight to your mattress.

Liberator warrants its sewing for twelve months. We hold twelve of these in Ottawa and ship them in plain packaging.

Pleasure With Purpose

Every purchase helps women impacted by sexual exploitation.

Pleasure With Purpose is our promise that pleasure should never come at anyone's expense. Launched in 2026 — our very first year in business — it directs 5% of every purchase to Canadian charities that support women impacted by sexual exploitation. We chose to start on day one, rather than "once we could afford it," because a brand built on consensual pleasure owes something to the women the wider industry has harmed. Every year we'll publish the numbers, the recipients, and the receipts.
